2021 Round Up

As the festive break fast approaches we’d like to wish you all – our customers, clients, suppliers, staff and associates – a very happy Christmas and New Year.  Thank you for your loyalty and continued support throughout 2021. It’s been a challenging year for everyone with Covid remaining a constant part of day-to-day life.  That said, there is much to be thankful for and we’re proud that Collard Group has grown for the 27th year in a row through the hard work and determination of our team, and the support of our many loyal customers.

Major projects

With dozens of demolition projects tackled across the UK this year, highlights include the iconic Horlicks factory in Slough, an AstraZeneca manufacturing facility, am Ajax factory and being principal contractor for the full structural demolition of an 11,000 square meter site in Taplow.  We also finished a year-long project at Thamesmead.

Our enabling works capabilities were key to the construction of a major new relief road in Wokingham which we were proud to have won an award for from our client.

Fleet and plant investment

We invest £4million annually on new equipment and vehicles as we continue to grow and expand. Our new Kiverco recycling plants were installed at our Nursling, Chilton and Ewshot sites, we went live with an all-electric new fixed crushing line and upgraded our washplant to allow us to use more recycled product in our award-winning ready-mix concrete.  We also took delivery of several brand new Volvo skip lorries, Komatsu 210 demolition spec excavators, Komatsu loading shovels, a DAF roadsweeper, and many more vehicles in our fleet.

Pride in our People

Our team grew to over 400 this year including new apprentices and senior appointments. We managed to host parties for our staff and their families in the summer and on bonfire night as well as clients at our annual karting and golf days.

It was great to see our team recognised with both the Transport Maintenance Team and RHA Heroes awards from the Road Haulage Association, as well as a Sustainability Award from Balfour Beatty.

Community Projects

The communities we work in are important to us – as well as donating both materials and skips to charitable causes, we got involved in some big events like Gig on the Green, and even hosted a training exercise for Maidenhead Fire Station. Our workshop team presented to budding apprentices at Basingstoke College and we’re collecting toys for children and teenagers in hospital over Christmas.

We also hosted delegates from Balfour Beatty, Wokingham Council and Guildford Council, when they visited our urban quarry in Eversley.

Collard Racing 2021

Rob competed in GT World Challenge Europe in his eye-catching Mercedes AMG GT3 and teamed-up with son Ricky for the infamous Spa 24-hour race in Belgium that they made history winning together in 2020.

Jordan had a successful campaign in his McLaren 570s, finishing third in the British GT Championship (GT4). He brought silverware home with several podium finishes including a win at Snetterton.

Ricky’s focus turned to driver coaching this year. Matias Zagazeta had a phenomenal year in British F4 under Ricky’s mentorship, often leading the Championship and finishing in second place overall.
