Our Contracting team has recently completed a complex office demolition project on Slough Trading Estate, carrying out a full demobilisation of the site to leave it in a stable, safe and well managed condition after being awarded the project at the start of the year.
What the works involved
As principal contractor for the demolition phase, we took full responsibility for site management, safety, and coordination throughout of the project with 98% of material from site recycled by our team.
The works involved demolishing the structure to ground level, while carefully retaining key site features such as existing vegetation, tarmac car parking areas, and all external fencing. The site, which covered approximately 8500m2 overall including the office building, also included a live substation that had to be carefully protected as it remained in use.
A considered and sustainable approach
It was crucial to consider the impact of our works on both the environment and the local neighbourhood which is why we adopted a considered and sustainable approach to site setup. This included the use of reusable plastic hoarding – aligned with practices implemented in Slough – alongside V-Mesh fencing mounted on blocks to secure the perimeter. We made sure that all non-retained materials were systematically removed as part of the site clearance, with all site-won material crushed and reused on site to minimise waste.
Given the proximity of sensitive neighbouring operations, particularly surrounding data centres and commercial premises, we implemented dust suppression measures, supported by background monitoring stations installed around the site perimeter to ensure compliance and maintain environmental standards throughout.
