HSEQ Director

Arising from the rapid growth and ongoing commitment to deliver an industry leading service to our clients, the Collard Group has a new opportunity for a HSEQ Director to join our team based at Eversley.

We are looking for the successful candidate to fully embrace and deliver the following;

  • To develop and agree strategic plans for HSEQ and related activities that develop the current service proposition to meet current and future needs of the business and ensure the group achieves industry leading levels of health, safety, environmental and sustainability performance.
  • To maintain oversight of ongoing compliance and performance levels, establishing frameworks and driving engagement with fellow Directors.
  • To co-ordinate and lead the development of environmental policy, standards and procedures across the business. To drive environmental audit and assurance activities to meet legal and insurance requirements.
  • To drive safety cultural change, leadership initiatives and improvement across the group.
  • To take responsibility for providing effective leadership and support and guidance in all HSEQ matters including training, for all employees, and sub-contractors.
  • To carry out in conjunction with Managing Directors / Directors project and business sector HSE performance reviews, compliance evaluations, tours and audits as required.
  • To take ownership and responsibility for all company Quality, Accreditation and Compliance including: ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, WRAP QP and compliance and relevant BS certification.
  • To monitor, collate and interpret performance data including close out of inspection and accident investigation reports, and provide management reports on a routine basis, including analysing data to ensure fleet management implementation accords with FORS Gold recommendations
  • To review and investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events to identify and effectively share lessons learned.
  • To manage the recruitment of HSEQ Professional and support staff across the Collard Group
  • To coach, mentor and develop the HSEQ team where required
  • To act as the Company's expert in the provision of effective safety advice, assistance and support to all functions and activities of the business, including the preparation of Pre-quals and tenders.
  • To propose, agree and be responsible for department budgets, prepare annual budget and forecasts and ensure justifiable business cases for all capital and operational expenditure proposals.

We are looking for the preferred candidate to have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Be a chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards)
  • Hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, ideally with a related degree.
  • Have detailed, technical knowledge and experience of implementing Health and Safety legislation, regulations and guidance and an in-depth understanding of Quality, Sustainability and Environmental procedures in a Construction and Waste industry environment.
  • Have knowledge and experience of EA permitted activities and processes
  • Have prior experience of providing leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through effective communications, collaboration and mentoring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Be self-motivated to deliver effective change management initiatives and develop and implement a bespoke HSEQ strategy for the group.
  • Possess a high degree of IT acumen.
  • Have excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders.
