R Collard Ltd were pleased to be awarded the Principal Contractor role for this project. The existing Vitrum building had a gross floor space of 44,000sqft over three storeys, with the plant located on the roof. The scope of the project was to demolish the Vitrum building in preparation for the new state of the art office and lab Research and Development building. The St. John Campus stayed an active site during the works, so safety remained paramount to the project.

Summary of the Scope of Works:

Removal of mechanical and electrical roof top plant.
Internal soft strip of all electrical and mechanical equipment, including lifts.
Removal of structural steel frame and pre cast floor planks.
Removal of ground floor slab foundations.
Removal of the existing external car park finishes, together with the removal of vegetation to facilitate the construction of the new building.
Removal and safe storage of materials to be integrated into the new building.
Mains sewage and surface water diversions.
