We’re proud of all our apprentices here at Collard and are committed to supporting apprenticeships, with a pledge to train 30 by 2030.
National Apprenticeship Week, which this year runs from Monday 9th to 15th February, is a week-long celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make. This year’s theme is ‘skills for life’.
We currently have eight apprentices training in various roles across our waste management, demolition and aggregates businesses, supporting a broad range of future career paths. To celebrate completing their heavy plant maintenance and repair apprenticeships, we recently presented Kyle and Alfie with a £500 Snap-on Tools voucher. This will help kickstart their tool collection and support them as they begin their career.
Joe Cox has recently completed his HGV apprenticeship with us after more than two and a half years of studying and working, learning valuable skills for life by getting hands-on with our HGVs. He’s now ‘crushing it’ on site after officially passing his crusher ticket to operate behind the wheel.
Apprenticeships are vital for the future of the industry so we’re proud to support our apprentices through the Collard Academy, which is our dedicated training and development hub. The academy team recently sponsored the Camberley Careers Fair on Wednesday 28th January which gave us an opportunity to meet members of the local community considering apprenticeships and discuss the training and careers options we can offer.
Claire Richardson, Collard Training Academy Coordinator said: “For our 30th anniversary last year, we pledged to have supported 30 apprentices through our doors by 2030 which shows our commitment to training and nurturing the very best talent in the industry. I’m proud to say that so far 12 of our colleagues have successfully completed their apprenticeships with our support and we have eight more currently working towards completing their courses. That means with just shy of four years left we’re two thirds of the way to reaching our goal. We’re busy building the workforce of tomorrow and our apprentices are playing a huge part in this.”
We’re 100% committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment and are passionate about developing our people and providing fantastic opportunities to progress in an exciting industry.
We always encourage those seeking an apprenticeship to get in touch with us, and if you’ve been thinking about a career behind the wheel, our new fully-funded HGV Driver apprenticeship is just one of our latest exciting opportunities. We’ll provide you with all the training and ongoing support you need to help you qualify – no prior experience required. Find out more and apply here.
