Dismantling a decommissioned oil rig

Our demolition spec Volvo EC750 excavator has been hard at work in the very north of Scotland, working alongside Liberty Industrial to support a mammoth project to dismantle a decommissioned 1970s North Sea oil rig. As one of the biggest machines in the country, it’s one of just a few that are capable of the challenge.

Transported nearly 650 miles over three days to Kishorn and operated by two of our expert machine drivers, the 105 tonne piece of kit is fitted out with our 8.2 tonne Labounty MSD 3000R scrap shear and is helping to break down the colossal 11,200 tonne rig.
