Charity and community news - July 2019

Date: 16/07/2019
  • We were pleased to be able to assist Aldershot Football Club with their Sleep Out for Step by Step, a charity working to empower young people and prevent homelessness. Sleep Out 2019 was the most successful yet, with 200 people attending and raising over £16,000 to help local young people.

  • We were glad to help out Rams Rugby in Reading for their ‘Rugby Force Indoor Work Party’ in conjunction with NatWest and the Rugby Football Union. This is a nationwide incentive for volunteers to give up a Saturday morning to spring clean the club and grounds for the upcoming season. The Club has been promoted to National 1 which is a big achievement and have a great mini and junior sections.

  • We were grateful to receive thanks from the Charles Kingsley Festival in Eversley in recognition of our sponsorship and support of the CK200 event. Special thanks were given to Steve O’Neil in our skip department for his expert help making sure everything ran smoothly on the day.

  • We were also happy to attend the Ewshot Show with a competition to guess the weight of one of our skips. Astonishingly we had six people who guessed the correct weight of 5.5 tonnes of (40-20mm) recycled aggregate, so it went to the tie break question: ‘How many thousands of tonnes of skip waste did our Eversley recycling centre take in to be recycled in 2018? The answer was 94,860.87 tonnes and congratulations to our winner of the £150.00 prize, William Vincent.

We continue to support:

  • Pinewood Starr Boxing Club continue their winning ways with National Champions in 2018/2019 making Pinewood Starr Boxing Club club of the year in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

  • We are proud sponsors of the North Stand at Aldershot Football Club.

  • We continue to support Fleet Town FC who are proud to display R Collard advertising boards at their ground.
