Foundation degree in demolition management

Simon King, our Demolition Contracts Manager for R Collard is one of only nineteen people studying for the world’s first foundation degree course in Demolition Management. Simon has completed his first year of a two-year course that is being offered by the Institute of Demolition Engineers (IDE) and supported by the University of Wolverhampton. A foundation degree is a combination of academic and vocational qualifications and is sometimes described as equivalent to two thirds of a full honour’s degree. The IDE already provides individuals in the demolition industry with the opportunity to demonstrate their professionalism as a demolition engineer, but this new qualification will take it to the next level. Simon will graduate in 2020.

Demolition at Basing View, Basingstoke

Last month we announced that our enabling works demolition contract for a five-storey office block in Basing View, Basingstoke, was in full flow and that piling was just about to commence. The photograph to the right shows the piling rig installing 1.35m diameter rotary bored piles to form a contiguous piled retaining wall. The retaining wall will be on three sides of the site to allow the construction of the office block within it. Find out more about our enabling works services.
