Demolition News - September 2019

Date: 19/09/2019

The Autumn/Winter period of 2019 is going to be a busy period for our demolition team with six new contracts awarded in July and a further six in August. These months were only bettered by February when the demolition team won seven new contracts. These new contracts will be based in Reading, Southampton, Farnborough, Yateley and the M4 area. In addition, we will continue with our long term contracts in Aldershot, Basingstoke, Slough and Thamesmead.

One of our new contracts includes demolition work in Burgess Hill, Sussex where our client is working closely with Mid Sussex District Council to regenerate the Martlets shopping centre to provide modern and vibrant retail and leisure facilities as well as much needed new homes.

The 465,000 square feet scheme will have a reduced retail footprint compared with the current site and will also provide 142 residential units, a 63-bed Travelodge Hotel, a 10-screen Cineworld cinema and a bowling alley. A new purpose-built library is situated in the heart of the scheme.

The duration of these works will be 12 weeks and we will be taking extra care of the copper birds that currently appear on the entrance pillars at this site, removing them to give them to a family of a child with autism that has fond memories of walking to the shopping centre to see these birds.
