Unexploded WW1 bomb found in quarry

Plenty of excitement in our quarry earlier this week when an unexploded bomb was found. It was a WWI German 76mm Minenwerfer Artillery shell and it was probably brought back to England as a souvenir.

As it was in very poor condition the Bomb Squad could not confirm if any ammo was still present, so they removed it from the quarry and took it back to their base to be destroyed.

It just goes to show, how dangerous our work can be...
