Demolition is the process of taking down or destroying current infrastructure that may lose its stability or may have structural damage.  The Demolition of a building is the process of dismantling a structure after its lifespan or serviceability by pre-planning and controlled demolition methods.  Our demolition team are fully equipped to undertake the most demanding of projects including;-

  • Complete demolition.
  • Internal strip-outs.
  • Building decommissioning.
  • Asbestos surveys.
  • Asbestos removals.
  • Partial demolition.

Demolition Of High-Rise Structures

Here at R Collard, we are able to fully manage and provide demolition services for high-rise structures.  Our team utilise structural engineer calculations, scaffolding and building specifications to efficiently and safely knock down high-rise commercial buildings such as hospitals, apartment blocks and office blocks.  Structural demolition is the process of using various means and methods to demolish or dismantle an existing structure in order to make way for new construction. The majority of structures are constructed utilizing either structural steel framing, and or structural concrete construction.

Material Disposal

Buildings handed over for demolition generally contain rubbish, landfill and hazardous waste.  We offer fully comprehensive site surveys before any demolition work goes ahead so that our team knows exactly what we’re dealing with.  We use best practices for ensuring that all materials that can be recycled, are recycled at the nearest processing or tipping point.  Hardcore and concrete can be crushed on or off site as appropriate and graded to various specifications creating re-useable secondary aggregates for a variety of uses and applications.  Protecting the environment is high on our priority list amongst all the services that we offer and that’s why we undertake our demolition services in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

Asbestos And Demolition

As part of the fully comprehensive demolition process that we provide, asbestos surveys and removals are a big part of what we do.  Overexposure to asbestos can cause serious health issues for some people that come into contact with it so make sure that asbestos surveys are undertaken before the demolition process goes ahead.  It is highly regulated and its safe handling and disposal is a major segment of the demolition market.

FAQs

What are the main markets for demolition services?

As previously mentioned, we are more than happy to take on all medium to larger jobs but the vast majority of demolition projects we take on are for industrial, chemical and environmental markets across the public and private sectors.

How is demolition performed?

Demolition is performed most commonly by using heavy duty machinery and equipment that includes excavators, wrecking balls, bulldozers and wire rope pulls.  This equipment requires highly qualified professionals and can create quite the mess and noise.

Is demolition bad for the environment?

At first glance, demolition may appear detrimental to the environment.  However, our demolitionists work in the area where they live and care greatly about the demolition projects they undertake including what happens to the materials once knocked down and destroyed.  R Collard is an environmentally friendly demolition company.

Do you provide free estimates?
