Surveys & Engineering

Here at R Collard, we provide fully comprehensive surveys and a range of engineering services for your project.  Our surveyors are responsible for undertaking site surveys and therefore collecting, analysing, and managing the infrastructure. Civil surveying is essential for the success of many construction projects, from residential and commercial buildings to infrastructure.  It gives project managers and engineers the geographical information they need to build a structure that will stand up reliably in the local terrain and helps them map out how their project should unfold.  As well as undertaking fully comprehensive surveys, we also offer the following engineering and project services;-

  • Enabling works.
  • High reach demolition.
  • Remediation and stabilisation.
  • Excavation.
  • Grading.
  • Highways and infrastructure.

Civil engineers have the ultimate job of working out the best way to plan a project and may include preparing plots, planning for new construction projects and estimating projected paths of railways, power lines and roads.  Our surveyors will also examine the current plot of land for contaminated soil or substances which is particularly important to undertake before a new build.  Through the use of drones, bridge surveys and other technical equipment, we are able to collect accurate data for proposals and accurately draw boundaries between public and private land.

What is the importance of surveying?

The importance of surveying and the value it provides should not be underestimated.  The first necessity in surveying is to prepare a plan and a section of an area to be covered by the project. From these prepared maps and sections the best possible alignment, amount of earthwork and other necessary details depending upon the nature of the project can be calculated.  Surveys make sure that the protected environment isn't adversely affected, that the structure is safe, and that the project is overall as efficient as possible.

What happens after the survey?

Once the survey is complete, we will then discuss specific requirements with our team and will then begin to offer our services such as site clearance, enabling work, remediation and stabilization.  The planning and design of all Civil Engineering projects such as construction of highways, bridges, tunnels, sound bunds, dams etc are based upon surveying measurements which will be undertaken in our surveying process.
