What Kinds of Waste Can’t Go Into 20 Yard Skips?

Due to their size, 20 yard skips are able to deal with a wide range of waste types, including bulky furniture and large waste. However, it also has its own limitations. Many of the waste limitations 20 yard skips suffer from are the same as other sizes of skips.

Some of the waste types which can’t be placed into a 20 yard skip or container include:

  • Waste Electrical Equipment & Electronics (WEEE).
  • Hazardous Materials (Including Asbestos & Plasterboard).
  • Gas Cylinders.

Do I Need a Permit to Hire a 20 Yard Skip?

If your skip is going to be placed on private land, such as a construction site or personal property, you won’t need to apply for a permit. Skip hire permits are only necessary if the skip is going to be placed on public land or will block shared access.

Due to their size, 20 yard skips and containers are only used in construction and commercial sites. As such, there is often enough space to position the skip without impeding the public highway. If your project is large enough to warrant a 20 yard skip, you’re more than likely to have the space you need to position your skip. Even if, for whatever reason, you do require a permit, we are here for you. The R Collard team can work with you to apply for and get the licence / permit you need.
