Collard Group is a family-owned business, and we’re committed to ensuring the health, safety, development and wellbeing of all our people – not only this Mental Health Awareness Week, but 365 days a year.
We’ve introduced several initiatives to support us in our mission to create a working environment that enhances our team’s mental health and wellbeing, including supporting the training of our Mental Health First Aiders. Based across the business, our Mental Health First Aiders are trained to provide our team with confidential support and information as well as a safe place to talk – encouraging our team to open up and discuss their mental health, which is often considered a taboo subject. We also offer an Employee Assistance Programme which includes access to free and confidential helplines for advice, guidance or counselling, including for bereavement support and GP access.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs between Monday 12th May and Sunday 18th May, we’ve created resources for our team with information about our Mental Health First Aiders and Employee Assistance Programme, as well as contact information for organisations designed to support mental health. We’ve also created an information poster on the benefits of physical activity for mental health and how to get moving.
The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Community’, as being part of a safe community is a vital factor in good mental health and making us feel like we’re not alone. We’re proud of the community we’ve built at Collard Group, which provides colleagues across the business with a sense of belonging, safety, support and purpose.
