Please contact our office if your skip is not being placed on your land or select a road permit when ordering a skip on the public highway. For householders, correct positioning of the skip is vital. A skip needs a 11ft-wide (3.4m) entrance and is up to 12ft long. Most driveways are suitable for skips, but thought should be given to the quality of the surface as lorries can be heavy. You may also have exposed drain covers, low branches or a restricted access. We encourage you to provide us with as much information as possible when ordering your skip. We can make alternative arrangements in the form of our grab hire service if a traditional skip is not possible due to your location. Please give us a call if you are unsure.
If the skip will not be going on private property and is instead going on a public highway or council owned property, Collard Environmental will arrange a skip permit for you through your local council, along with lighting and cones on the skip to comply with regulations.

POPs is also referred to as Persistent Organic Pollutants and contain chemical substances that do not break down in the environment.
As a compliant operator we have a responsibility to clasify and segregate any waste coming into our sites which is likely to contain POPs for bespoke processing.
Domestic furniture which may include POPs includes upholstered sofas or chairs (chargeable), foot stools and bean bags. Some electronic and electrical items may also contain POPs.
Further information is available on the Government website or our POPs page. Please contact us if you believe that you may have waste containing POPs.
As long as the access is clear then you do not need to be at home. Please leave any specific instructions on where you would like the skip in the order notes.
If you would like to place your skip on a public highway, you will need a local authority permit. Please select this online or contact the office if you have any questions about permits?
Our standard hire period is two weeks. If you require less time this can be booked on line. If you would like to hire your skip for a longer period of time, this can also be booked online and a small extra hire charge is applied.
Please contact the office as soon as possible to extend the hire and if necessary pay for any extended hire charges. If the collection is refused because extended hire is required, then a wasted journey charge will be requested.
No, if required, these must be provided by the customer. Whilst we take all reasonable care not to cause any damage, we cannot be held responsible for any damage to a driveway if it is not suitable for the skip delivery and collection.
