Here at Collard, we can help you to get the licence you need to leave a skip or other waste container on public land. If your skip needs to be placed on a public path or highway, and you don’t have one of these licences, our team won’t be able to leave the skip with you.

What Can I Not Put Into My Skip?

The following items are not permitted in any skip or container:

Any type of battery
Any type of pressure vessel including aerosols, this includes gas bottles
Clinical waste
Fluorescent tubes
Food waste
Fridges and freezers
Hazardous materials (including asbestos)
Liquids (including fuels, oils, paint and solvents)
Televisions and monitors
Tyres

We allow 1 mattress per skip. Additional charges will apply for any of these waste types above.

What Items Are Chargeable?

Where Can I Place My Skip?

For householders, correct positioning of the skip is vital. A skip needs a 11ft-wide (3.4m) entrance and is up to 12ft long. Most driveways are suitable for skips, but thought should be given to the quality of the surface as lorries can be heavy. You may also have exposed drain covers, low branches or a restricted access. We encourage you to provide us with as much information as possible when ordering your skip. We can make alternative arrangements in the form of our grab hire service if a traditional skip is not possible due to your location. Please give us a call if you are unsure.

Do I Need a Local Authority Licence For Delivery of a Skip?

If the skip will not be going on private property and is instead going on a public highway or council owned property, Collard Environmental will arrange a skip permit for you through your local council, along with lighting and cones on the skip to comply with regulations.

What Access Do You Need For Delivery of a Skip?

A skip needs to allow for a 11ft, or 3.3m, entrance and they can be up to 12ft long.
