This year we’ve been proud sponsors (and enthusiastic supporters) of some of our employees out on the racing circuit.
We’ve continued to sponsor our Transport Director and motorcycle racer Roddy Taylor along with our apprentice Alfie Pennington who is also a talented quad bike racer, and the Bayliss SX Racing team. It’s been a high-octane season all round and we’ve eagerly followed their progress every step of the way.
Roddy competed in the final ever round of the Steve Henshaw Gold Cup which took place on 13th and 14th September 2025 at the Oliver’s Mount circuit in Scarborough – England’s only natural ‘road’ race track. We came third in the Classic Superbike championship on our GSXR750 Suzuki with Roddy acting as the rider’s representative, meaning he was responsible for the induction of any new riders coming into the series.
Alfie’s 2025 season has been a little rough following a bad crash which left him hospitalised during the British Clubman Championship. This meant he missed two rounds so that unfortunately put him out of the championship for the rest of the year. But Alfie is determined and now he’s fully recovered he will be training throughout the winter ready to give the 2026 season his all.
And finally, our founder and MD Rob Collard recently competed in the last round of the British GT Championship at Donington Park with a sensational qualifying lap to secure pole position for the second day of the two-day event as part of the Barwell Motorsport Team. Through mixed wet and dry weather conditions he controlled the first half of the race to pit for the driver change in first place. Hugo Cook handled more mixed weather in his stint, bringing the car home safely to secure a very solid second place finish.
Rob reflects on the last race of the season: “This was a perfect team result. From the moment we set up on Thursday we never looked back and the car felt superb all weekend. We’ve had zero issues mechanically or with set up, and to sign off with that sort of dominance in the season finale is a great feeling to take into the winter. It’s been great racing with Hugo this year, he’s blown the doors off a lot of other drivers and truly deserves the plaudits.”
