Collard Group talks training and skills with Education Secretary

Here at Collard we’re always looking to lead the conversation and improve our industry, so we were honoured to be joined by The Rt Hon Gillian Keegan MP, Secretary of State for Education, at a recent roundtable dinner.

Collard Group sponsored the exclusive event, which was held at the Tylney Hall Hotel, with our MD Rob Collard attending and taking part in an important and broad-ranging conversation about skills and apprenticeships.

Rob and Ms Keegan discussed the skills shortage in our industry, how we’re helping to address this by training up apprentices through our successful apprenticeship scheme, and how the government can help to make operating plant and driving trucks more attractive as career options for young people entering the industry.

We are proud to be taking a lead on this and have recently grown our current apprentice cohort to 11 people, having taken on Joe and Ollie, and we’re looking forward to nurturing their careers now and in the future.
