Transport Workshop Concrete News October 2019
Transport/workshop/concrete news - October 2019
Date: 15/10/2019
We are continuing our investment in our staff with Dave Hildreth, an ex-driver and now a workshop mechanic, who is doing his City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Parts I, II and III as a mature student on day release at Bournemouth College over the next 3 years.
We have taken on Josh West, who is the son of tipper driver Charlie West, on day release work experience from Basingstoke College of Technology. Josh is working with the mechanics, helping to carry out service work replacing wheels, tyres and brakes on vehicles under the supervision of Lee Troddyn, our Workshop assistant supervisor.
Our Transport Manager, John Killoran’s son Bradley is also working Saturday mornings in the workshop, getting hands on experience of the running of a busy HGV, van and car workshop. Lee worked for Mercedes for over 15 years and managed the apprentice programme there, so Josh and Bradley are getting excellent guidance from Lee.
This month we sadly say goodbye to Caroline Nelson, one of our Transport Administrators, after 13 and a half years with the company. We all wish Caroline well in her future career.
One of our Transport Planners, Paul Williams, won the Mid Sussex vets Moto Cross championship last month with his son, Jayden reaching 9th in his class. We are proud to to sponsor members of our staff and offer our congratulations to Paul for his achievement in winning this event.
Another of our drivers, Martyn Humphries, completed this year’s Screwball Rally last month in his R Collard sponsored BMW 5 Series. They did encounter some problems along the way but were successful in visiting over 8 countries in total, including the Nurburgring race track whilst in Germany.
We were also proud to sponsor our Transport Manager Roddy Taylor who raced at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough last week, finishing 5th in the Lightweight class on a 650cc Suzuki. Roddy competed against some of the best road racers in the world and to qualify was an achievement in itself, reaching 14th and 15th on the grid. This weekend he is competing in the last round of the Thundersports GB championship for Super Twins at Oulton Park.
Due to our five year fleet replacement policy we currently have
trucks and plant for sale
