For this project, R Collard were awarded the principle contractor role. The works consisted of the demolition of the roof plant room to enable the new sky bar to be formed. Additionally, we demolished the super plant and external country yard buildings adjacent to the president hotel; down to the 1st floor and ground floor slabs alongside the removal of the top floor.
The soft strip and asbestos removal involved all of the floors within the buildings, including the formation of new floor openings and openings to the former casino. The soft strip included the removal of all non-load bearing walls and risers, utilising the internal lift shafts as well holes to remove the demolished arising from site.
We removed 9 lifts including the runners, doorways and motors from site. Furthermore, we facilitated the removal of the 40m flue from the side of the structure and steel framed canopy working from a live service yard that supplies the President Hotel and managing the live fire exit routes from the president hotel.
